A month of cultural events to celebrate the launch of Black History Month at Chalkwell Park Rooms, Chalkwell Park, on Sunday, 30th September 2018 and provided various events till end of October 2018

The event called LIME, is a popular term used across the Caribbean that means to gather, to socialize, to hang out with friends.

The South Essex African Caribbean Association (SEACA) based in Southend, kicked off Black History Month with a taste of the Caribbean. The afternoon of family fun features cultural entertainment, music, performances, Caribbean cuisine, games and more.

The family day was open to everyone from all backgrounds, who appreciate Caribbean culture. The event aimed to create a central point of focus to celebrate the diverse cultural experiences of people from all backgrounds living in Essex. Also laid the ground for the first ever Dominoes Tournament in Southend.

The LIME is an informal gathering together of like minded people, it celebrates the 70th Anniversary of Windrush this year and the positive contribution they have made in the UK’.
