We are very excited to invite you to the Preview of our new interactive installation, In Her Shoes at Queen’s Theatre, Hornchurch on Sunday 23rd January 2022.
Blown Fuse’s In Her Shoes is an immersive installation experience exploring the concepts of identity, stereotypes, and relationship to home, told through the lens of the Essex Girl stereotype.
Along the way, you’ll meet real women from Essex, past and present. As if by magic, their stories are brought to life by 3D audio and cutting-edge technology. The shoeboxes will transport you to the Bata Shoe Factory & Estate, Kynochtown and Thames Explosive Works and the Marconi Factory. You’ll visit Zimbabwe, Jamaica, and Southend Seafront in an intimate adventure that asks you: what is an Essex Girl? Will you take a walk In Her Shoes?
Your 20-minute adventure begins as you step inside a shoe shop built for one. With former Bata Shoes employee Joan as your guide, you’re transported through time through simply opening a shoebox.
To book your time slot, please RSVP here.
In Her Shoes has been funded by Arts Council of England, Magic Little Grants and supported by Queen’s Theatre.
We hope to see you there as we celebrate the forgotten stories of Essex Women.
