The Know Your Roots project has been a roller coaster as we have been traveling around Essex delving interactive workshops which includes a physical and online presentation. Looking at the diverse aspects of African Caribbean Culture and exploring attitudes towards education about and treatment of hair. We have been engaging with participants who have contributed stories and share their knowledge of the history of Black hair and natural Hairstyles and the significance it holds. This month we were in Basildon and one of the highlights was the presentation by Shannon Creary looking at and focussing on trichology and general hair care. Also, Sheda from Holda Poetry who performed a wonderful original piece of Spoken Word about hair and head wraps.
